Hello Graham,
good news...and a good chance to train patience and savour anticipation...especially of the new reverb.

Re: Miditzer Quartet
I'm just about ready to upload a couple of alpha versions of a new quartet. One uses the standard soundfonts and comes in at about 190MB. The Morton version is about 690MB. Both use a new Puppy base model (X-Precise1.1) which uses XFCE/Thunar so is much more "windows user" friendly.
I'll post some links when I can get them uploaded to dropbox.

These are ALPHA versions. YMMV

Re: Miditzer Quartet
Hi Graham
I will be interested to give these a try.
As a side note, have you tried booting to Linux on a Windows 8 default operating system? Windows 8 on my new HP notebook deploys a boot protection system. I have not found any Bios settings that will allow the system to boot from a CD or USB as I was used to with my XP system.
The only way I can get a Linux distro to boot, is to have Windows 8 running then go to a special functions section and tell it to re-boot using external media.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Has anyone found a more direct way to boot to Linux through Windows 8?
Regards
Rick

Re: Miditzer Quartet
Hi Graham,
I ran the mtn-Version on a VISTA System: the appearence on the screen is outstanding and it will play one of the included Midi-Files in a perfect sound.
But there are first observations, which I will try reproduce with my next start:
the 216 surface won´t execute any further click command except "F4 -Alt close". After this procedure the 216 can´t be started again.
Rgds and thanks,
Hartmut

Re: Miditzer Quartet
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you.
Miditzer will lock up if you try to stop the MIDI player in the middle of playing. Nothing can be done about that as there is a code incompatibility between WINE and the old embedded version of FluidSynth which controls the player.
If it is locking up in normal use, I can't reproduce that and would need more detail.

Yes, this is one of the features which I suspected to be the reason for the total stop.moonskin wrote:...

I will continue to locate the other areas under suspicion.
