Hello,

New user here. I've been building a real 4/24 Wurlitzer for the last decade. I don't have room for many 16' and certainly not 32' pipes, so I wanted to see if I could use the MidiTzer to add some bass foundation. Looks like there isn't a lot happening on here - and many of the links on the page are dead. I do see some activity that there is a new release coming out. I'd love to see the links and performances. Let me know if I can help in some way. Would like to buy the upgraded console to support the site.

I'm impressed. Building a real pipe organ of any size is quite an undertaking, even for a team. A 4/24 for one person is more than I would ever dream of attempting.

Using electronic extensions to replace the lower octaves is something that is done in many installations. Getting these extensions to blend in with real upper ranks is a challenge. I would consider using complete electronic ranks for those that go to 16' or 32'. The 32' ranks will also present a challenge in terms of having adequate amps and speakers to reproduce the low notes. I would start by using the Miditzer to test the ability to blend the pipe sounds produced by the Miditzer with your real ranks. If you can blend them satisfactorily, then you can tackle the issue of how to activate the electronic sounds. You might or might not want to use the Miditzer as part of the final solution. My guess leans toward not.

The lack of activity in the Forum mostly reflects that the Miditzer is about 20 years old and most of our users have long since settled on a working configuration so they don't have much to talk about.

We are upgrading the software so that it is better suited for current computers. We encourage everyone to download and test the development versions that are released. Look in the Development Labs area for these versions. Issues that are found now usually get corrected fairly quickly. If they aren't discovered until after we make a release version, then corrections may take much longer.

The forum has been hosted and cared for by a number of people. There were several updates that weren't handled correctly, which broke links and lost attachments. There have been sporadic efforts to fix these issues but many remain.

Thank you for the kind reply, Jim. I'll take your suggestions to heart. I was lucky enough to find the Allman soundfont which contains many samples I'm lacking - I just need some time to experiment.

Yes, building this instrument has been a labor of love. It took me about 10 years and I had some absolutely expert help. I don't think I could have done it without them.
